Nate Swanson is an award-winning photographer currently living in Chicagoland. Values instilled throughout his life largely inspired the stories he pursues, covering topics involving chosen families, food deserts and individuals' selfless dedication to serving and connecting their communities.

As a teenager, he simultaneously practiced street photography while working several jobs in the service industry that molded him into a fast-paced responder and careful listener. In 2017, he earned Eagle Scout in accompaniment from a project he led by helping organize and photograph a non-profit's annual event to rally against gun violence in Chicago's West Side.

Nate is a member of the National Press Photographers Association and NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists. He is a 2022 graduate of Ohio University with a BS in Visual Communication.
