Nate Swanson is an award-winning photographer currently working as the Director of Photography with the independent student-run newspaper, The Post. He has also worked as photo editor and staff photographer with the The Post in previous years, leading to his internship in Washington with the German international broadcast outlet, Deutsche Welle.
Between his hometown of Chicago and now in Southeastern Ohio, where he will graduate in April of 2022 at Ohio University with a Bachelors of Science in Visual Communication, visual journalism has been the core of how he makes sense of the world around him. Engaging with communities from the Chicago area and Appalachian Ohio brings forth honest portrayals of people whose stories deserve to be shared.
Nate Swanson's debut with photojournalism began with documenting ALSO's (Alliance of Local Service Organizations) 20th Annual Walk for Peace in the Humboldt Park and Logan Square neighborhoods in Chicago as part of his Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project in the summer of 2015.
